At first, I was a bit skeptical about their claim that no shaving cream/gel would be necessary, especially since my skin tends to nick easily. However, once I wet the razor and began to shave my legs, I was completely amazed: the Intuition razor glided smoothly and evenly over my skin, no shaving gel needed! I could even shave potential trouble spots, such as my knees and outer ankles, with complete ease and totally nick-free. Although the razor is fairly large, it is so light and fits into the hand so nicely that it is very easy to use; it also comes with a nice suction cup hanger to affix to your shower wall. Finally, as an added bonus, after using the Intuition razor for just a few days, I noticed that my hair seemed to be growing back in more slowing, requiring me to simply touch up my legs rather than give them a full shave, which is a real time-saver. Unfortunately, this razor is not without some problems, many of which other reviewers have mentioned. First of all, the large size of the razor made it hard to maneuver around my bikini line area, and I also found that I did get quite a few nicks in this area. I've been unable to figure out exactly why this is--perhaps it has to do with upgrading from a double blade to a triple blade (and it definitely IS a triple blade, not a double as a previous reviewer suggested)?--but I've found that using just a bit of shaving gel in this area only was helpful. Secondly, the great coating around the blade does wear unevenly, with the bottom section getting used up much more quickly than the top. I found that the coating was at its best for about three weeks, could be used adequately for another week or two, but then required switching to a new cartridge, meaning that the coating wears out well before the razor itself does. Also, the replacement cartridges are fairly expensive--a pack of three costs about the same as I paid for a pack of six Silk Effects refills. A final issue is that this razor can ONLY be used in the shower, as both your legs and the razor itself must be wet in order for it to work effectively. Despite the above flaws, I have been pleased with the performance of this razor, and I think that the money I paid to upgrade was worth it. I would recommend this product with some reservations. Great concept, so-so execution , August 22, 2005 Reviewer: Morgan's Mom - See all my reviews After years of cutting my legs with dollar-store razors, I finally decided to treat myself to a decent razor. I picked the Intuition because I really liked the idea of having the soap and shaver in one. The main "pro" of this razor is that, in my opinion, it gives a good, close shave. I haven't had any of the problems with it not shaving closely enough that other reviewers have mentioned; maybe it's just a matter of personal preference. I also like that it glides along the leg very smoothly. I've nicked myself occasionally at the ankle and knee, though - go carefully in those spots. It's convenient to be able to hang the razor right in the shower from the suction-cup hook. Since I only shave in the shower, it doesn't bother me that both your legs and the razor need to be wet for it to work. Now for the cons. The soap wears down very quickly. I've even had one soap bar pop off the razor completely after only a couple of uses, and there was no way to reattach it - there went one very expensive refill! And yes, the refills are EXPENSIVE! Way overpriced, if you ask me, especially since they don't last very long. I find that the average refill lasts in good condition (with soap on the sharp side of the blades) for maybe 6 uses; after that, the only soap is left on the dull side of the blades, where it doesn't do any good (what genius is responsible for that bit of designing??). I usually use the razor anyway until all the soap is gone - maybe a dozen shaves total, only half of which are as they should be. Poor value for the money there. I'll keep using the Intuition for now; however, when I run out of refills next time I might just go back to a plain ol' razor and shave gel. This product deserves an honest 2.5 stars - it's a great idea that's been hamstrung by a poor finished design and overexuberant pricing. Was this review helpful to you? ( Report this ) Inconvinient! , July 21, 2005 Reviewer: A. Heeren "Acalya Heeren" (Norfolk, VA)- See all my reviews As soon as I used it I noticed that this is the worst razor I've ever used. It is not good for the curves on your legs, armpits or bikini area etc. because of the soap head which stands there clumsily. Plus, because of the soap head, you can't shave as close as you want. I didn't like it at all, waste of money and time. The first thing next day was to go to market again and to buy a new razor.(nowadays I adore Wilkinson Quattro for women) Was this review helpful to you? ( Report this ) Marginally worse than the song! , June 9, 2005 Reviewer: Jacqueline Hahn "teech 'n song" (Southern Maryland, USA)- See all my reviews This is probably the most ill-conceived product out there. First of all, as it has been pointed out in another review, this is a VERY poor quality razor. Without it's soaper, it's a dollar store item. Secondly, the soaper goes all the way around the blade. I don't know about you but I generally shave using the sharp edge of the blade only ... so, after the soap wears out on the leading edge [in about 3 legs-worth of shaving!], it is necessary to give a swipe of the razor in the opposite direction before actually shaving, in order to get any soaping action. This seemed to double my shaving time rather than shorten it. I wish I could express more effectively just how much I hate this product. I also wish I could get that darn song out of my head ... I mean, come on Jewel, it sounded like a jingle the first time I heard it! Was this review helpful to you? ( Report this ) Horrible idea.... , April 10, 2005 Reviewer: Christine Kottemann (Evansville, IN)- See all my reviews As a college student, I was really excited about this at first. I thought, WOW, I don't need to spend extra money on shaving cream/gel and it would be a quick shave. However, my excitement over this razor quickly diminished. The moisturizor around the blades wore down unevenly leaving a need to actually use gel/cream. Also, the shave itself is not very close. I am just overall disappointed with this porduct and went back to my Venus razor as soon as I used up the Intuition blades. Was this review helpful to you? PLUS - discover the foolproof 10-step formula I personally use for making sure my bath salt recipes turn out perfect - time and time again ! From: Rachel Huston Thursday, 1:02 p.m. Dear Friend, If you're like me, there's nothing you'd enjoy more at the end of a hectic day than to light some candles, put on some soft music, and enjoy a bit of "ME time" soaking in a warm bath filled with your favorite aromatic bath salts. The salts actually drain the aches from your muscles, while the soothing scents fill you with a sense of calm and well-being... But have you seen the price of bath salts lately?! It's enough to stress you out! More and more bath and beauty companies are taking advantage of the huge popularity of home spasand the luxury bath to charge you outrageous prices for their salts! I absolutely refuse to pay those outrageous prices for one more pretty bottle or "exclusive" label! I've worked in the beauty industry -- I know that the contents of those fancy designer bottles cost mere pennies to produce!... Why not make your own bath salts? One way to deal with the inflated prices (and the potentially irritating contents of commercialbath salts) is to make your own. I know that's what I decided to do. At first, I was encouraged by the dozens of web sites offering "free" bath salt recipes for salts. I downloaded a bunch of them, and was really excited at the prospect of making my own salts -- notjust for me, but for my family and friends, too. Until I got started... ...That's when I discovered a couple of unfortunate things about almost every online bath salts recipe. First, every site offered the same small handful of tired recipes! There was no variety and the blend of fragrances that the few existing recipes contained were just awful ! Even worse -- the instructions that came with the recipes were so bad, my results weren't just disappointing, they were downright ridiculous! For example... My experiments with free Internet salt recipes were a disaster ! My brother still laughs about the time I made the bathtub turn bright red -- for a week! Definitely not my personal favorite was the hard, round clump of bath salts I ended up with that would have been more useful at a bowling alley then in a bathroom! ;-) And then there was the time a chemical reaction I definitely wasn't expecting -- and the recipe definitely didn't warn me about -- blew the cork right off the bottle! What They Forgot To Mention (See Special Report Below) It soon became very clear to me that some sites I got free recipes from, althoughwell meaning, had not done their homework ! Literally every recipe I found online had made at least one of what I call ' The Seven Most Common Mistakes of Making Bath Salts '. Click Here to Read That Report Now . Well, I was pretty disappointed by the third-rate results I got from my free recipes, to say theleast. But instead of giving up, I decided that since I couldn't find the bath salt recipes thatI wanted, I'd just have to develop them myself. After all, I already knew from my work in the cosmetics industry about aromatherapy, fragrance, and colorants, so I figured there was no reason why I couldn't develop better blends than what I was finding on the Web ! My work in the cosmetics industry paid off! Well, it took me months to compile and test my recipes -- and I threw a lot of them out because they just didn't measure up. I lost track of how many wonderful baths I had to take to test my salt blends (poor me ;-). But I kept testing and tweaking -- throwing out the bad recipes, and working on the good ones -- until, before I knew it, I had developed over 101 fabulous bath salts recipes in four exciting categories! Finally, I was satisfied that I had created the best and most extensive collection of therapeutic bath salts possible , and was ready to start indulging in my own custom blended baths... ... and giving my very own handmade gifts of bath salts to my friends and family. And boy, were they ever a hit! My best friend couldn't get enough of them . She even joked about having to quit her job so she'd have enough time to try out all 101 formulas! Then she said she hoped I didn't mind, but she'd actually passed one of my jars of "Oriental GreenTea" to a woman at her church, to thank her for looking after her cat one weekend. My mom loved the soothing quality of my botanical blends. She's always a bit stiff after spending time at work, and she said a half hour soak in my "Sea Bliss" bath was the best therapy for sore muscles she'd found. She even passed out samples to her colleagues at work! I gave my next-door-neighbor a sachet of my "Uplifting" aromatherapy salts with grapefruit and rosemary essential oils, and she thought it was the most invigorating bath she'd had in years! Then she asked me if she could have a few more, because she had friends she wanted to givegifts to, and she thought they'd be perfect! And that's when it hit me! Once I realized just how lovely it is to soak in your very own natural handmade bath salts -- andonce I saw how popular my salts were with other people (who both used them AND give them as special gifts), I knew I'd be crazy not to make all of my recipes and research available to everyone who loves this indulgence. It took me loads of time and lots of wasted money before I cut through all the fluff and downright incorrectinformation available on bath salts -- even with my background in cosmetics. So why shouldn't I make all of this information publicly available for those who want it? So I took all of the recipes, all of the instructions, the tips, the background information, all that I had -- and put it into "The Comprehensive Guide to Hand Crafted Bath Salts" -- a 187-page eBookthat gives you everything you need to create your own natural, spa-quality bath salts -- for just pennies a bath! More for the ancient methods used to produce the crystals. First of all, the production is only possible during the dry months, as the warmth of the sun is the initial and final drying process. The sea water is placed in canal systems made of tree trunks for evaporation, which takes approximately one week. Then the solid salt crystals are hand carried to a drying platform, housed in a grass hut, fuelled by coconut husk fire. The sea salt crystals are then sun-dried again, and the final product is displayed on the beach for sale. For the people of Bali, the Sea is considered revered and sacred water. It is very significant to Balinese ceremonies and purification rituals. Many believe that the ocean water, under the full moon, is the most powerfully charged water. The sacred sea is believed to have the power to both purify and sanctify. Due to this traditional process, the texture of the salts will vary. The Bali salt crystals are a porous and light weight crystal making them ideal for absorbing essential oils. They dissolve quickly in water and have a pretty light grey color. The unique geometric shape of the crystals and the natural grey color make this a great salt to combine with dried herbs. No colorants are necessary to make a beautiful finished product. More making Bath Salt, Salt Scrubs, Aromatherapy Treatments, Potpourri, Soap. This high mineral bath salt will increase the quality of any bath salt or spa recipe. CEARA Bath Salt Crystals are produced through the natural evaporation of sea water. Salt water is captured in shallow ponds and allowed to evaporate by means of the sun and wind. During the process, a salt bed forms on the bottom of the pond. The salt is harvested, washed, screened and packaged. The typical salt crystal crop takes from one to five years to produce. In high mineral salt production, the environmental conditions directly influence the salt quality through the quality of its main raw material - sea water. The sea water used to make CEARA Bath Salt Crystals is especially clean as it is collected from a mangrove area, an ecosystem that removes undesired elements from the water. This removal is accomplished through a filtration process carried by indigenous plants and shellfish. The waypeople use this term, "a rash" can refer to many different skinconditions. The most common of these are: Scaly patches of skin not caused by infection. Scaly patches of skin produced by fungus or bacterial infection. Red, itchy bumps or patches all over the place. Although rashes are seldom dangerous, self-diagnosis is not usually a goodidea. Proper evaluation of a skin rash requires a visit to a doctor or otherhealthcare professional. The following guidelines may help you decide what categoryyour rash falls into. Scaly patches of skin not caused by infection Scaly, itchy skin patches usually represent one of the conditions referred toas eczema. Atopic dermatitis : Atopic dermatitis is perhaps the most common form of eczema. This is an hereditary skinproblem that often begins in childhood as chapped cheeks and scaly patches onthe scalp, arms, legs, and torso. Later in childhood atopic dermatitis may affect the inneraspects of the elbows and knees. Adults get atopic dermatitis on the hands, around theeyelids, on the genitals, as well as on the body as a whole. The word "dermatitis" means inflammation of the skin. "Atopic" refers to diseases that are hereditary, tend to run infamilies, and often occur together. These diseases include asthma , hay fever ,and atopic dermatitis. In atopic dermatitis, the skin becomes extremely itchyand inflamed, causing redness, swelling, cracking, weeping, crusting, andscaling. Atopic dermatitis comes and goes, often for no obvious reason. It is oftenworse in the winter months, when the air is cold and dry, however, moisturizing alone does nothelp much. Patients with atopic dermatitis may have allergies, but most cases of atopic dermatitis are notthemselves allergic. In general foods, soaps, and detergents do not play ameaningful role in producing this condition. Atopic dermatitis is not contagious, even though patches may appear on various parts ofthe body. For more information, please read the Atopic Dermatitis article. Contact dermatitis: Contact dermatitis is an often-misused term which refers to a rash brought onby contact with a specific material which causes allergy on the skin. Commonexamples are poison ivy and reactions to costume jewelry containing nickel.Contact dermatitis affects just those parts of the skin touched by whatevermaterial causes the allergy . Treatment of contact dermatitis involves avoiding a specific cause, if there is one. Mostcontact dermatitis is not allergic, however, and therefore can be treated but not prevented.Effective topical (external) include topical steroids, includingover-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone and many prescription-strength creams, aswell as the newer nonsteroidal medications tacrolimus (Protopic) and pimecrolimus (Elidil). There are of course many other scaly rashes. Two worth mentioning are psoriasis , an hereditary condition affecting elbows, knees, and elsewhere, and pityriasis rosea , which produces scaly patches on the chest and back andgenerally disappears in about a month. Xerosis , very dry skin, may also appear as a rash duringthe cold, dry months of the year. 1 2 Glossary Rash Center | Next Next: Scaly patches of skin produced by fungus or bacterial infection.
