AskChrisKnight.com HOME :: Health-and-Fitness / Anti-Aging Anti Aging Skin Care Products By Stephen Todd Article Word Count: 581 [ View Summary ] Comments (0) When a person wishes to purchase an anti aging skin care product, they will most likely wind up choosing a cream because it is one of the most popular forms of anti aging skin care products on the market. These anti aging creams are broken down into three different categories, including natural, herbal, and artificial cream products. Herbal Creams Herbal creams are the most popular choice because of marketing advertised as not creating any side effects. But when using any new product, testing it for a short period of time is suggested to make sure there is no allergic reaction to any of the anti aging skin care products that you are considering. Natural Products Choosing a natural anti aging skin care product means that they will be encountering a cream consisting of collagen, as well as ingredients extracted from plants that are used to combat wrinkles in the skin. Many people turn to the use of anti aging skin care products to achieve a more youthful appearance and feel better about themselves while battling the natural occurrence of aging. The aim of some anti aging skin care products is to enhance the skins texture, as well as retain an extra amount of moisture within the body. Many find anti aging skin care products beneficial for achieving a more contoured, toned body with a reduction in the appearance of fat throughout the body. Excessive drying and wrinkles, which is the number one culprit regarding signs of aging, move many to try an anti aging skin care product. There are plenty of products on the market to fight against these natural signs. When sporting a tired, dry face, an anti aging skin care product with soy extract should be considered. For women, it is the loss of estrogen that creates this excessively dry skin. Some face creams to consider include Murad Sheer Lustre Day Moisture ($60) and Kinerase Cream ($65), which not only offers soy, but also features an anti-withering agent found in some plants. Wrinkles As a natural effect of aging, wrinkles creep up on the face and body of everyone. The loss of collagen can sometimes create wrinkles. Retin-A is one of the best anti aging skin care products on the market for wrinkles. If you are looking for an over-the-counter option, Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream SPF 15, available for $12.99. So, what causes the most wrinkles on a face besides stress? Sun damage is to blame, which makes it important to use sunscreen throughout the entire year. Sun damage can occur even during the winter season, as well as on a day filled with clouds. Moisturizers To get the most out of your anti aging skin care products, two moisturizers should be purchased: one for night use and one for daytime use that contains sunscreen. Keep in mind that sunscreens should contain at least one of the following ingredients: titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or avobenzene. UV protection If you are looking for a good anti aging skin care product with UV protection, consider purchasing Olay Total Effects 7X Visible Anti-Aging Vitamin Complex with UV Protection during your next grocery store trip. This product contains an avobenzone-based sunscreen and contains no fragrances or artificial colors. The anti aging properties of this product do not come from retinal, but is found within the sunscreen and it is filled with additional vitamins, including vitamin C, zinc, titanium, magnesium, as well as vitamin E. The Dermagenetics Co., based in New Jersey, says its DNA UltraCustom moisturizing and wrinkle cream is the solution for both men and women looking to get rid of their laugh lines and crow's feet, reported WEWS-TV in Cleveland. With one swipe of the inside of your cheek, Dermagenetics claims it can customize a cream just for your skin problems based on your DNA. The scientists there say they analyze five key areas in the skin that relate to the wrinkle and aging genes. Then they mix up a formula of certain enzymes, antioxidants or amino acids based on a patient's DNA. But Dr. Elma Baron, a dermatologist at University Hospitals in Cleveland, said she is skeptical of this $375 skin solution. "Individualized treatment is something we always aspire for because we have different genetic backgrounds, so in terms of the goal and the objective, it's pretty attractive," Baron said. "My question is, is it really fulfilling what it claims to fulfill?" Baron said there is no hard evidence of research in the dermatology community and the skin-care community about the DNA cream. "We continue to advocate the things we know that have been proven -- sun avoidance, sun protection, the use of sunscreens," said Baron. It takes four weeks to make the cream once Dermagenetics gets your DNA sample. Once it runs out, it's $159 for every refill. So what do regular folks think of the DNA cream? Opinions are mixed. Myean Lomax thinks paying so much money for skin cream is a going a bit too far: "Four hundred dollars for a jar when you can get some cold water and splash it on your face and get the same result, if not better?" But Tracy Blomquist sees it differently: "I think it's great. Women are always looking for the fountain of youth, they always want to look younger -- anything to help." Bady Care

Scarification: My favorite form of bady art Scarification: My favorite form of bady art At A Glance Author Outsider Contact jackhell@hotmail.com Artist Myself Studio Kitchen Location Ashland, Oregon Scarification: I started out doing scarification on myself doing stylizedRunes on my arm and my stomach and my calves. It took some experimenting tofind a depth that wasn't too deep or too shallow. I found that a 1/8-inch isthe best depth and began marking the scalpel to help guide it until I becamecomfortable with the cutting. The Second problem I came across is that Ihave fair skin and don't scar heavily due to the small amount of keloids. Tomake up for that I researched scarification practices and found that ash is agood way to agitate the skin into a scar, I use sage ash. I suppose getting atan would probably also work. And yet a third problem, I found out thelame way that if you have 2 cuts too close together then the scars might mergeand ruin the piece, which I managed to "fix" by cutting off the skin where Ididn't want it to be and applying Neosporin. Let me get startedexplaining the scar on my stomach. Its of the rune Teiwaz which is asymbol of warrior. It is about three years old, and has only had a fewproblems. It was also the third scar I did on myself. The process I used tokeep it sterile was to first get a brand new scalpel (that can be a painsometimes), I than proceeded to sterilize it by boiling the blade for justover an hour because I don't have an autoclave. Then used rubbing alcohol tosterilize the skin in the area I planned to do the scar and let it dry (thatalso tightens the skin a bit, which makes the cutting easier). I alsoremembered the latex gloves and went through about three pairs during thesterilization process (I wanted to stay away from cross contamination). I hada hard time cutting deep enough at first, I think that comes from theself-preservation instinct, so I had to go over the scar again to cut it deepenough to leave a good scar. I also recommend having something on hand to swabthe blood; I used a paper towel, which probably undid my attempts atsterilization. I had about a 1/4 pound of sage ash that I had been saving forawhile for scars and rubbed it into the cuts, I used up a good portion of theash (mostly on the surrounding skin) and was left with a black scabafterwards. Most of the ash came out due to bleeding and picking the scab afew times a day to irritate the cut into a thick scar. I'd say it was boutthree weeks before I considered it healed although I still took care of itjust to keep on the safe side After I became comfortable with theprocess and felt I was competent, through a combination of practicing onmyself and on leather, I started doing work for friends who thought I wasdoing a good job. The one problem they had was remembering to pick the scabs.I ended up doing some intricate Celtic knots and some Japanese symbols withpretty good results. The first scar I ever did on anyone else was aCeltic cross that took up a decent area on the back. I used the samesterilization process again except I had access to an autoclave this time so Iautoclaved instead of boiled. The person who got the cuts drew the design ofthe Celtic knot. It took up a lot of space on the back and was filled withvarious other designs; I suppose maybe it was more of a frame for everythingthat was inside. I used freshly cleaned terry cloths to swab the blood until Iwas done and used a towel and got a nice design on the towel from it. Thesubject had a mixture of marijuana ash and sage ash to rub in. Apparently someTHC was left in the ash and leeched into the blood because the subject claimedto have gotten high, I think that it more likely endorphins, because I had asimilar experience. That scar turned out pretty decent I'm thinking it wasbecause the person had a decent tan. I'm glad I had learned from my previousexperience with the scars merging so I had remembered to cut shallower in someplaces where the detail was high. And in the end I think it was probably thebest piece I had ever done. I still do scarification on myself andperform the art on others. Scarification almost landed me a job but thebusiness went under before I was hired. The Scarification got me interested inbranding and body piercing neither of which I am comfortable doing onothers. As a last note I would recommend that a better environment beused than a kitchen. Return to Scarification experiences
