Banish Grime Keep your skin free from oil and dirt by cleansing and moisturising on a daily basis. Exfoliate once a week, and always use a sunscreen or moisturiser with built in SPF factor. Highlight, Don’t Hide Step away from that concealer stick! Any lines will look more prominent if concealer is used to disguise them. Instead, try using highlighters around the skin creases and above your cheekbones to reflect light and counteract any shadows. Bright Eyes The eyes are the window to the soul, and what better way to make the most of one of your assets than by drawing attention to it? Groomed eyebrows can open up the entire eye. Eye lash curlers work well to make lashes look longer and brighten the eyes. Relax! Avoid stress as much as possible, as it can be potentially ageing on the skin. Neck, shoulder and back massages are not only relaxing but can also be good for shifting along the release of toxins. Go on, treat yourself! Don’t Be A Sunseeker The sun is one of our skins biggest enemies, especially for pale English roses. Never ever sit in direct sunlight if it can be avoided, and if you really can’t do without your dose of sunshine, be sure to use a sunscreen or moisturiser containing SPF and always wear a hat. Eat Away The Years A good diet is imperative for good skin, and whatever you put in your mouth will be reflected in your skin. Fresh food is great fuel for glowing skin, especially deeply coloured fruit and vegetables which are high in antioxidants. Wherever possible try to buy organic produce. Some of the best anti-ageing foods are: Blueberries: A power food, containing circulation boosting Vitamin C Carrots: Zinc strengthens the skin while beta-carotene is excellent for skin Spinach: High in Vitamin E, Iron, Beta Carotene and Folic Acid Citrus fruits: Full of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant Salmon: Contains essential fatty acids to feed and nourish skin Roar Like A Lion Facial exercises can help to keep the face and neck toned. Try this simple exercise. Take a deep breath, and while breathing out, slowly open your mouth as wide as possible and stick out your tongue. At the same time, roll your eyes so you are looking at the ceiling, being careful not to strain them. Hold the position for a count of 10. Repeat five times. Eau Yes! One of the best things for your skin is absolutely free. Yep, water is a great saviour, but don’t forget that it has to service all of our other organs before skin even gets a look in! To stay properly hydrated and to be certain that your skin is reaping the benefit, try to drink at least two litres of water a day. After a few weeks you should notice your skin getting clearer. First thing in the morning, hot water with lemon will kick start your system and flush out toxins. Sleep Tight There’s nothing boring about early nights, and we all notice how much better our skin looks after a proper sleep. Lack of sleep can lead to shadows and a sallow complexion as well as leaving you feeling cranky. If you have trouble dropping off, try a few drops of lavender oil (available from all good health food shops) in your pre-bedtime bath or on your pillow to relax you and send you off to sweet dreams. Beat The Heat Central heating can play havoc with your skin, making it dry and flaky. Combat this by placing a saucer of water near your radiator, which will evaporate and moisten the air. For extra benefit, add a few drops of your favourite essential oil – peppermint and citrus are both very refreshing. Ease The Pressure Facial massage can relax important muscles and smoothes your complexion. Try this one… Place your thumbs at the side of your head and find the point that lies between the edge of the eyebrow and the corner of the eye. Apply light pressure to the area using your thumbs, moving in a circular motion for about a minute. Try to do this each morning. Smoothie Does It! Whip up this easy smoothie recipe for pure skin goodness, packed with antioxidants… Ingredients (Enough for two large glasses) 500g red grapes 10 stoned apricots 4-cored pears 3- cored apples Pop all the ingredients in a juicer and stir. Drink and enjoy.. Jul 04 '04 (Updated Jan 06 '05) Author's Product Rating Pros Smells and works great! Cons none The Bottom Line Fixes dry feet with ease! Full Review I have knarly feet. I live in Florida and run around barefoot all the time. Im the idiot dancing across the street to get my mail barefoot on 175-degree asphalt. Im the bonehead who walks the sidewalk around my neighborhood with my kids . barefoot. And Im the native Floridian who wears sandals 9 months out of the year. So that also makes me the one whos got dry, cracked, evil looking feet. Until I started using The Body Shop products! The Product: The Body Shop Pumice Foot Scrub with Peppermint Oil has become a live saver for my feet. I have to say, Ive never taken care of my feet. Ive never scrubbed and Ive barely lubed them up with moisturizers and lotions. I just felt I was destined to have Florida Feet .like all the other Floridians here. But once I started buying products The Body Shop at Home, I learned that all that dry and cracked skin on my feet was nothing more of layer upon layer upon layer of dead skin that built up hard skin. The Body Shop and The Body Shop at Home has an amazing foot care line called The Peppermint Foot line. It was specifically designed for athletes who ran in the London Marathon. But its not only athletes that need to take care of ugly feet. I wont try and sell any of my products without testing them on myself first. So night after night I bring new products into the shower with me to try them out. The Pumice Foot Scrub is a pepperminty scrub filled with ground up pumice, which is nothing more than a form of volcanic rock! Did you know that? Its used to remove dry, dead skin cells which your feet are FULL OF! This scrub is tough on dry feet. You just apply a teaspoon to a foot file, or you can use your hand, and start rubbing in small circles around the heels, balls of your feet and toes. It has an odd gel like texture, but the texture helps reduce the waste of the product because it sticks nicely to your hands/foot file. The peppermint in it makes your feet feel fresh, it smells great and it has astringent properties to it. It does have a sudsing property to it, so you are also cleansing your feet at the same time. Ingredients: Ingredients Water, Pumice, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Magnesium Silicate, Acrylates/Steareth-20, Methacrylate Copolymer, Polysorbate 20, Lauryl Betaine, Benzyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Peppermint (Mentha Arvensis) Oil, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Salicylate, Fragrance,Citric Acid. You can purchase a tub of the Pumice Foot Scrub at any brick and mortar The Body Shop store, or from any The Body Shop at Home Consultant for a whopping $9.00!! Cant beat that for sweet feet! My Experience: I am not a peppermint person. Im not overly nuts for the scent. However, my tub of scrub has not left my shower since I brought it in there. I actually have nothing to compare this scrub to. Ive never scrubbed my feet before I tried The Body Shop Pumice Scrub. However, since I have tried scrubbing my feet with two other products in my shower. One was the Philosophy Gingerbread Man Scrub and the other was Bath and Body Works Sweet Pea Salt Scrub. Neither did anything for my feet. Now, neither of these products are specifically designed for feet, so that might have something to do with it. But its the only thing Ive used to compare the Pumice Scrub to. And its FAR better than either of these other scrubs on my feet. If you dont have knarly feet like me, then you really only need to scrub once or twice a week. I scrub each time Im in the shower because Im really focused on getting my feet looking great. And there are years and years of dead skin on them that I need to scrub off. Once I get them looking great then Ill cut back to once a week. It takes a mere minute or two on each foot in the shower while my conditioner is doing its thing in my hair. Then I just rinse the little granules down the drain. You can follow up your great scrubbing with The Peppermint Foot Lotion if youre in love with the Peppermint line. I personally either use a Body Butter for Very Dry Skin like the Mango or Sesame. Or Ill use a product The Body Shop sells specifically for Hands and Feet called The The Body Shop Africa Spa Hand and Feet Honey Butter . Its highly moisturizing and great for dry feet and hands. Ive seen a BIG difference in how my feet look and I can even show people LOOK HOW GREAT MY FEET LOOK. I owe it all to The Body Shop Pumice Foot Scrub!
