Did you know that the skin is the human body's largest organ? All animals with backbones have skin covering their entire body. Skin not only protects the organs of the body, but it also allows for sweating which helps to regulate the temperature fo the human body. Our skin is made up of three layers which are called the epidermis, the dermis, and the subcutaneous fatty tissue layer. Your skin is subject to the harsh rays of the sun, especially if you are a sun worshiper, and lay out to get a dark tan, and it can sustain damage in other ways too. Depending on your job, your skin can come in contact with harsh cleaning chemicals, dirt, grime, and grease. Even when you are relaxing and having fun, like swimming in a pool, your body can come in contact with chlorine and other harsh chemicals that are sometimes found in swimming pools. Now that you know a little bit about your skin, learn some more by finding out how you can take care of your sensitive skin. Every person should follow the same basic skin care routine for their face. However, for a person with sensitive skin, there are some differences. The steps of basic facial skin care should be done on a daily basis. The first step is to clean off any makeup that you may have applied to your face. Use tissues or cotton balls to remove most of the makeup. You can then remove any makeup residue by washing your face with a mild soap or cleanser. There are beauty soaps on the market that contain lanolin and other softening agents that work well. Avoid soaps or cleansers that contain harsh chemicals or ingredients that might dry your face or irritate your sensitive skin. These include cleansers which contain alcohol and the like. Next, if you washed your face with soap, now, cleanse your face with a mild face cleanser. You should use a cleanser that will remove all of the dirt, and basic pollution off of your face without drying your facial skin or changing the pH balance. The next step is to use a toner on your face. A good toner should make your face feel smooth and refreshed. It will tighten the pores in the face and make your skin look smoohter. Again, beware of products that contain harsh ingredients. If your face is very sensitive, you may have to avoid any type of products that contain dyes, colorings, or scents, as they can and do irritate sensitive skin. Alot of toners contain alcohol or some form of it. Again, avoid these ingredients. Choose a toner that will not irritate or dry your sensitive skin. Men should choose shaving creams that contain aloe vera, baby oil,or some other type of gentle formula. Most after shaves contain alcohol, so a man may choose to forego the scent for the sake of their face. There are a few products on the market which a man with sensitive skin can use. As for the rest of the body, soaps, shampoos, body cleansers, bath oils, bubble baths, etc. should be chosen with care. Again, check the ingredients and avoid using harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin. © 2002 Pagewise You are here: Essortment Home >> Fashion & Beauty >> Beauty:Hair/Skin >> Sensitive skin care << Treatment cure products for dry skin problems and rashes Facial mask recipes >> skin cream that containsLiquid Oxygen Skin Cream Main Page | Register | Login | Hoax Forum | Recent Comments Liquid Oxygen Skin Cream New Scientist has flagged a product whose promoters are guilty of making a few misleading claims. It's Neaclear facial cream , and it's advertised as containing a "powerful combination of liquid oxygen, vitamins C & E, sage, chamomile, seaweed and rosemary, coconut oil, sweet almond oil and hydroquinone." The company even boasts that they're the first company "to combine stabilised liquid oxygen into all of its products." New Scientist notes that "We have certainly never heard of a skin cream that contains liquid oxygen, the temperature of which is normally somewhere below -183 °C." The answer is so simple that I'm surprised you can't see it. The inventors of Neaclear facial cream are using LifeWave patches to allow oxygen to remain liquid at room temperature. Those little adhesive pieces of plastic can do ANYTHING! Posted by Cranky Media Guy on Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 12:41 AM Liquid oxygen in the form of H2O. Its so obvious. Posted by Jorge on Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 06:04 AM Lifewave! I should have known it. Posted by Alex in San Diego on Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 06:12 AM I also think they should rename their product "Nuclear facial cream, with liquid oxygen." They would see an explosion in sales. Posted by Alex in San Diego on Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 06:17 AM Quantum Nuclear facial cream, now with liquid oxygen. Posted by Zoe on Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 06:50 AM Since liquid oxygen is usually -183 degrees C, they could even change the name to Cold Fusion facial cream. Posted by Nat on Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 06:58 AM For better performance add some liquid titanium from your bracelet. http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/hoax/forums/viewthread/139/ Posted by Captain Al in Alberta, Canada on Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 08:50 AM does it freeze the face to prevent wrinkles? Posted by trotsky on Fri Sep 09, 2005 at 09:59 PM All, Thank you for your comments. Our intention is never to mislead the public since we are an ethical company. We were never contacted by newscientist.com to discuss our products or to answer their questions. We are still awaiting a response from their attorneys for their slanderous comments. Even though we are a physician-strength skin care company, our claims are significantly less than other cosmeceuticals companies. Please feel free to check out the following web link where you will find the our science page updated: http://www.neaclear.com/ourscience.htm neaclear products have all undergone rigorous safety, efficacy, stability and hypoallergenicity studies. neaclear is currently conducting numerous randomized, prospective and double-blind clinical trials to further validate our products. Unfortunately, we cannot discuss with you the oxygenation process. We understand your comments concerning liquid oxygen, and that is why the process took us over 1 ½ years to finalize. Please realize the oxygen concentration in our skin care products is not a large amount, definitely less than 5%. On the FAQ section, you will find the following question: Is there really liquid oxygen in neaclear® & neaclearPlus products? neaclear® and neaclearPlus skin care products all have oxygen in them. the oxygenation is a special 4 step process that enables us to place oxygen into a stable liquid form. liquid oxygen normally exists only at the extremely low temperature of -183 degrees Celsius under normal atmospheric pressure. liquid oxygen in it's purest form is highly combustible and basically "rocket fuel". NO, we do not have rocket fuel (pure liquid oxygen) in our products. please realize the oxygen concentration in our skin care products is not a large amount, definitely less than 5%. again, we always recommend not placing these products close to any sources of fire or anything flammable (a good piece of advice with any skin care products). Again, thank you for your comments. We take them all very seriously as we continue our growth. Posted by Big Gary, strangling with uncontrollable laughter on Tue Sep 13, 2005 at 03:07 PM If you could put 5% "liquid oxygen" in a skin cream (which, of course, you can't-- not at normal temperatures, anyway), why would it be good for your skin? My skin is constantly immersed in a mixture containing about 20% gaseous oxygen, and I haven't noticed anything extraordinary happening to it. Posted by Big Gary, strangling with uncontrollable laughter on Tue Sep 13, 2005 at 03:11 PM Most of the cosmeceutical companies that dominate this industry include Loreal, Neutrogena, Procter & Gamble etc. Please feel free to check out their claims. Physician-strength companies like Obagi, Laroche Posay, Skinceuticals and neaclear are redefining this industry with their data. We do not lay claim to originating this term, but it has been around for a while and is commonly used. I googled the term cosmeceutical and hope you might find the time to check the results at the following link: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004- 47,GGLD:en&q=Cosmeceutical Have a nice day and please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you or we as a company can do better. We clear up those big beauty questions 1. What is my skin type and how is it determined? Most women's skin type falls into one of six categories: dry; somewhat dry; normal; somewhat oily; oily; or combination. Skin type, which is determined by the amount of oil secretion, is hereditary. Environmental influences can tend to exacerbate conditions, but the different areas in the skin that produce oil and the amounts of oil produced are based on genetics. Some women classify themselves as having sensitive skin. Although skin is remarkably robust, overexposure to the elements or overuse of products can lead to skin allergies or sensitivities. To avoid this, try to minimise the number of products you use and try to find ones designated for sensitive skin whenever possible. 2. Why do seasonal changes affect my skin? Skin is remarkably resilient to damage and change, but it does become normalised to its environmental conditions. Therefore drastic changes often leave the skin lagging, requiring it to adjust to new conditions over time. For example, travelling to a dry climate or the sudden cold and windy conditions of winter often result in itchy, dry skin. As a result, the skin responds by increasing oil production to compensate for the weather's drying effects. Similarly, if you change the products you use in your skin care routine, your skin may have a reaction. 3. Why does stress affect my skin? Skin is the body's barrier to the outside world, both as a physical protector and as part of a complex immune defence system. Even today, all the interrelated biological systems supporting the skin aren't completely understood, nor are the causes and effects of stress on the body. However, the simple fact is that stress interferes with the body's systems that repair and regulate the skin. For example, a loss in the skin's natural antioxidant defences due to stress can lead to accelerated ageing. Also, hormones associated with stress can trigger a histamine release within the skin, causing it to erupt in tiny red bumps or, in some cases, hives.
